Application

2-ethylhexanol (2-EH for short) is a fully synthetic, branched primary alcohol that is mainly used as an intermediate product. For the most part, it is further processed into plastic additives such as diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) or diethylhexyl adipate (DEHA), which is usually used as a plasticizer in PVC. Just as frequently, 2-ethylhexanol is used as a non-ionic surfactant after reaction with ethylene oxide.
