Application

Refined rapeseed oil is now an important vegetable oil in Germany and Europe and is used in many different applications. Thanks to the use of seeds low in erucic acid, which have significantly lower levels of bitter substances, these qualities are now also used to a large extent in food production, both for the manufacture of edible oils or fats and as an ingredient in recipes. Rapeseed oil contains four times more linolenic acid than olive oil, for example. Cold-pressed qualities also have a rich spectrum of vitamin complexes. However, the vast majority of rapeseed oil used in Germany is used in technical applications or in the fuel sector, where rapeseed oil is converted into rapeseed methyl ester (also known as biodiesel). Furthermore, rapeseed oil or its derivatives are processed into lubricants or formwork oils or are used in paint and varnish production.
