Isopropyl alcohol (technical), at least 80% (3,9 kg) -

Isopropyl alcohol 80 % or Isopropanol 80 % also known as IPA for use in the chemical-technical field (e.g. for surface disinfection against viruses, bacteria and spores). Isopropanol in a concentration of 80 % is very suitable for disinfection, as it ideally penetrates the cell walls of microorganisms and thus effectively destroys the entire cell. 

 

Application

The monohydric alcohol has always been used as an alcoholic solvent and cleaning agent in the chemical industry or as an additive in antifreeze agents in the automotive sector. Due to its high dissolving power, it is also used in offset printing  or other cleaning processes, as well as in metal casting. It is also used as a base for surface disinfection products.

Precautionary measures

Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving the workplace. Provide process area with good ventilation to prevent formation of vapors. Do not expose to open flames. No smoking. Use only non-sparking tools. Avoid inhalation of dust/fume/gas/mist/vapor/aerosol. Use only outdoors or in well-ventilated areas. Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling.

Further information

As a result of the pandemic spread of known viruses, isopropyl alcohol is increasingly in demand in Germany as a disinfectant for hand disinfection and due to the general shortage in pharmacies and drugstores, the Federal Office for Chemicals announced on 4. 3. 2020, after consultation with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the Federal Chemicals Agency, as the competent authority, announced the general ruling on the authorization of biocidal products containing 2-propanol for hygienic hand disinfection in accordance with Article 55 (1) of Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012 . This general ruling expires on August 31, 2020. It can therefore be used as a basis for disinfection until it expires.

Storage

Store only in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep container closed when not in use. Avoid direct sunlight.
