Application

Paraffin in liquid form, like solid or medium-solid raffinates, is a crucial component of formulations in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and technical chemical industries. It is used as a base in a wide range of cosmetic applications. Practically in all oil-based care products it is at least a partial component. In addition, kerosene oil is part of pharmaceutical products for human and veterinary formulations. Its chemical properties, such as its hydrophobicity, inertness, resistance in acidic environments and non-toxicity, are the basis for its wide range of applications. Thus, kerosene oil is used both as a lubricant in the food sector and as a component. Many technical areas are also areas of application for kerosene oils, for example wood preservation, leather care or corrosion protection in the metalworking industry and in mechanical engineering.

Precautions

Wash hands and other exposed body parts with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving the workplace. Provide process area with good ventilation to prevent formation of vapors.

Paraffin oil from modern productions is produced with the help of vacuum distillation from different petroleum cuts and is refined by purification processes to high-purity qualities. The product has pharmaceutical status according to the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.), the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) and the US Pharmacopoeia (USP). 

Storage

Store only in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep container closed when not in use. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
